The Denver Broncos have extended Zach Allen’s contract, and upon closer inspection, it’s yet another deal that heavily favors the team. The Broncos are dominating the 2025 NFL offseason and sending a clear message to the rest of the league.

They’ve been active from the start—striking smart deals in free agency and locking in key players through strategic extensions. While success on the field still needs to follow, the roster moves suggest they’re setting themselves up for it.

According to Mike Klis, here are the details of Zach Allen’s new contract:

The final year of Allen’s previous contract remains in place, making it a five-year deal totaling $115.25 million. That breaks down to an average of $23.05 million per year, which ranks eighth among all NFL defensive linemen in terms of annual salary.

Allen’s contract actually falls short of the one given to Jeffery Simmons, who the Broncos will face in Week 1. Although Denver guaranteed Allen close to $70 million, they avoided the kind of excessive spending that often happens in free agency.

At one point, Broncos fans heavily criticized GM George Paton for some of his decisions. However, both he and the front office have done a lot to rebuild their reputation in recent seasons.

Interestingly, when Allen was initially brought in, there was debate about whether he could adequately replace Dre’Mont Jones, who had left for the Seahawks. Jones was later released by Seattle and struggled to find his footing after leaving Denver.

Allen, on the other hand, has developed into a top-five defensive end and just secured a lucrative new contract. It’s yet another impressive move by the Broncos’ front office.
