Alabama football subtly ramped up its efforts in the 2026 recruiting cycle on Tuesday.
According to On3 Recruits, Crimson Tide staff members — including running backs coach Robert Gillespie and General Manager Courtney Morgan — conducted an in-home visit with five-star running back Javian Mallory, currently committed to the Miami Hurricanes.
Mallory, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound standout from West Boca Raton High School, has put up impressive numbers over four varsity seasons: 3,221 rushing yards, 38 touchdowns, along with 761 receiving yards and 10 receiving scores, per MaxPreps.
ESPN has rated him with a scout grade of 80, placing him at No. 272 nationally. He announced his commitment to Miami on March 22, 2025, turning down notable offers from Florida, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, and Florida State.
Alabama’s pursuit of Mallory comes at a crucial time.

In head coach Kalen DeBoer’s first season, the Tide finished 9-4 overall and 5-3 in SEC play, ending the year with a narrow 19-13 loss to Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl. Despite a 9-3 regular season, Alabama landed at No. 17 in the final AP Poll and was the first team left out of the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff.
That near miss has only increased Alabama’s urgency to stockpile elite talent for DeBoer’s offense.
The 2025 season will start with several early challenges, including a neutral-site opener against Florida State on August 30, a home game against Wisconsin on September 13, and a road test at Georgia on September 27.
While there’s no guarantee Mallory flips his commitment, Alabama’s visit makes it clear the Tide are aggressively pursuing top-tier recruits to bolster their future roster.
