Tennessee safety Christian Charles has officially entered the transfer portal. The Georgia native made the announcement Thursday night on Twitter/X.

A redshirt senior, Charles appeared in 10 games last season while dealing with a lingering shoulder injury. His college career has been hampered by injuries, though he still managed to play in 30 games overall, tallying 71 total tackles, three tackles for loss, one pass breakup, and a blocked punt during his freshman season against Pitt in 2021.

Charles, who spent four seasons with the Volunteers and started in seven games, shared his appreciation for Vol Nation on social media. He noted that while Knoxville has been good to him, it’s time to prioritize what’s best for himself and his family. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
This move makes Charles the third Tennessee player to hit the portal, following safety John Slaughter and quarterback Nico Iamaleava. He did not participate in spring practice as he continues to rehab his shoulder injury.
