After a standout performance in his debut, Cody White earned a spot on the Seattle Seahawks’ active roster.
The Seahawks promoted White and tight end Tyler Mabry from the practice squad to the 53-man roster as part of several roster moves on Saturday. To make room, Seattle placed center Connor Williams on the reserve/retired list and waived defensive tackle Brandon Pili.
Additionally, the team elevated safety Ty Okada and linebacker Patrick O’Connell from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
White shined during Seattle’s Week 9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. With top receiver DK Metcalf sidelined, White stepped up, catching two passes for 44 yards and blocking a punt, all in the fourth quarter of a close game. The Michigan State alum’s efforts marked his first regular-season action since appearing in one game for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022. White was later named one of three captains for the game against San Francisco.
Mabry, who has spent most of his time on the Seahawks’ practice squad since 2020, was elevated due to injuries at the tight end position. Starter Noah Fant is out for a second consecutive game with a groin injury, while fourth-string tight end Brady Russell is sidelined with a foot issue. Mabry’s last regular-season appearance came in 2022.

Head coach Mike Macdonald announced that Connor Williams, the Seahawks’ starting center who played every snap this season, had retired unexpectedly for personal reasons. Second-year player Olu Oluwatimi is set to take over as the starting center.
Defensive tackle Brandon Pili, who joined the Seahawks off waivers from the Miami Dolphins earlier in the week, was waived to clear roster space.
Safety Ty Okada, in his second year, is being elevated for the third time this season, with one tackle to his name so far. Linebacker Patrick O’Connell, also in his second season, is providing depth at inside linebacker following Tyrel Dodson’s release earlier in the week.
