The Seattle Seahawks enter the 2025 NFL Draft with flexibility after filling their quarterback need by signing Pro Bowl talent Sam Darnold.
Darnold is coming off a breakout season with the Minnesota Vikings in 2024, completing 66.2% of his passes for 4,319 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. The former No. 3 overall pick now takes over in Seattle following the team’s decision to trade Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders.

While Darnold is positioned as the new starter, his future isn’t fully locked in. He signed a three-year, $100.5 million contract that gives the Seahawks an out after just one season if things don’t go as planned.
Looking ahead to the draft, NFL.com’s Chad Reuter projects Seattle to add another quarterback in the second round—potentially creating a competitive dynamic. His mock has the Seahawks picking Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka at No. 18, then selecting Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers at No. 35.
Ewers (6’2″, 214 lbs) guided Texas to consecutive College Football Playoff appearances and delivered a strong senior season, throwing for 3,472 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while completing 65.8% of his passes. Over his college career, the former five-star recruit tallied 9,128 passing yards, 68 touchdowns, 24 picks, and added eight rushing scores.

Ewers is no stranger to competition—he famously beat out Arch Manning at Texas. While Darnold would begin as the front-runner in Seattle, bringing in Ewers on a rookie deal could give the Seahawks a high-upside option for the future.
The 2025 NFL Draft is set for April 24–26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
