The Pittsburgh Steelers have brought linebacker to their practice squad, replacing running back Aaron Shampklin, who was promoted to the 53-man roster.

This move brings the Steelers’ practice squad to 17 players, with one open spot remaining on the active roster. Outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon, who has been cleared to return from injured reserve, is expected to fill that vacancy.

Windmon was originally released when the team cut down to the 53-man roster, but he drew attention from other NFL teams, including the Seahawks, Browns, and Panthers, before rejoining Pittsburgh.

He joins Devin Harper as one of the inside linebackers on the practice squad. Though primarily playing off-ball linebacker during training camp, Windmon is also capable of playing outside linebacker.

Steelers Waive Physical Rookie Linebacker

A former standout at Michigan State, Windmon, 23, went undrafted in 2024 but was signed by the Steelers. Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 240 pounds, he recorded 64 tackles and 6.5 sacks over two seasons in the Big Ten after transferring from UNLV in 2022.
