The Philadelphia Phillies’ season came to an end Thursday night after a crushing 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4 of the NLDS.
Following the defeat, catcher J.T. Realmuto — who is set to become a free agent this offseason — was asked about his future in Philadelphia. Still emotional from the loss, Realmuto made it clear he didn’t want to discuss free agency just yet.
“I’m not here to talk about free agency, dude,” he told On Pattison. “Don’t ask that question right now.”

At 34, Realmuto remains among the top catchers in baseball and is expected to draw plenty of interest from teams across the league.
The three-time All-Star continues to provide a rare mix of defensive excellence and offensive reliability, making him a valuable addition for any club seeking stability behind the plate.
Realmuto spent the first five years of his career with the Miami Marlins before being traded to the Phillies in 2019. Having now completed his seventh season in Philadelphia, a potential departure would no doubt be a difficult choice.

Still, he’s likely to weigh all his options once the offseason begins. For now, though, the veteran is focused on processing the end of the Phillies’ playoff run.
“I’m thinking about losing a baseball game, that’s what it feels like right now,” Realmuto said. “The last thing I’m thinking about is next year. If you want to ask me about this series or my teammates, I understand that. But I haven’t thought about next year yet.”
Despite the tough finish, Realmuto’s track record ensures he’ll be one of the more sought-after free agents this winter — and he’s poised to land a strong contract.
