The Denver Broncos are expected to focus on boosting their offense early in the 2025 NFL Draft. With that in mind, did a prominent NFL insider project them to take an offensive player? While the team recently signed tight end Evan Engram in free agency, there’s still work to be done.
Before Engram’s arrival, many mock drafts had Denver selecting Michigan tight end Colston Loveland in the first round. He’s still a possibility, but since that signing, projections have shifted toward the Broncos targeting a running back instead.
That remains a viable option, and there’s plenty of speculation about what teams might do. Denver could just as easily move up or down in the draft — we’ll know for sure tomorrow.

Well-connected ESPN NFL insider Peter Schrager recently released his only mock draft for 2025, and his pick for the Broncos is considered a slam dunk.
Peter Schrager is mocking Emeka Egbuka to the Broncos at pick 20
Here’s how Schrager described Emeka Egbuka in relation to the Denver Broncos:
“Bar none, Egbuka is the most universally well-liked prospect in this draft. He is smart, reliable and sure-handed. He could be a 10-year captain somewhere and is most often compared to fellow Buckeyes legend Terry McLaurin.
Coach Sean Payton and general manager George Paton hit a home run with Bo Nix a year ago. This could be another no-brainer.”

Emeka Egbuka is a wide receiver with a remarkably high floor at the NFL level, and his ceiling could be just as impressive. He’s often been likened to players like Terry McLaurin and Amon-Ra St. Brown, which speaks volumes about his potential. Egbuka brings a skillset that the Denver Broncos are currently lacking in their wide receiver corps—he could be the perfect addition to complete that group.
While it’s true that running back is Denver’s most pressing need, the depth of this year’s RB class allows them to address that position later in the draft. In contrast, the wide receiver group isn’t as deep, so if the Broncos want to grab a top-tier WR, the smart move would be to act early.
There will be quality running backs available well into the middle rounds—Rounds 2, 3, 4, and even beyond. But when it comes to Egbuka, it’s hard to overstate how strong a selection he would be. He checks every box the Broncos should be looking for.
