The Los Angeles Rams have already made significant moves this offseason, highlighted by the free agent additions of star wide receiver Davante Adams (two years, $44 million) and defensive tackle Poona Ford (three years, $27.6 million).
With eight selections in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Rams could continue making bold decisions. However, it’s still uncertain which prospects they’re targeting.
That said, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler recently reported that the Rams are among the teams showing quiet interest in Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord. “While the Saints, Steelers, and Giants have either met with or worked out McCord, other teams quietly doing their homework include the Jaguars and Rams,” Fowler noted.

McCord is coming off a standout season at Syracuse, where he completed 391 of 592 passes for 4,779 yards (an ACC record), along with 34 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and a passer efficiency rating of 148.8.
If Los Angeles were to draft him, McCord likely wouldn’t see the field much right away, as veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford is under contract for two more seasons on his four-year, $160 million deal. However, with Stafford turning 39 by the start of the 2027 season, his future with the team beyond that becomes uncertain.
McCord could serve as a developmental option, learning under head coach Sean McVay and gradually becoming familiar with the system, potentially taking over once Stafford moves on.
The Rams wouldn’t need to spend a high pick on him either—McCord is currently ranked as the No. 8 quarterback and No. 165 overall prospect on ESPN’s big board.
