The San Diego Padres remain unbeaten.

Following a four-game sweep of the Atlanta Braves to open their 2025 MLB season at Petco Park, the Padres began their three-series homestand against the Cleveland Guardians on Monday night with a 5-0 victory.

San Diego’s offense provided early support for starter Kyle Hart, who had plenty of run cushion to work with. After surrendering a run in the first inning, Hart watched his teammates respond with four runs in the second.

Hart wrapped up his outing after five innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out four and issuing just one walk.

With their series-opening win against Cleveland, the Padres improved to 5-0 for the first time in franchise history, as announced by the team on social media.

A key factor in San Diego’s strong start has been their pitching staff. Through five games, the Padres boast a 1.80 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP, ranking second and fifth in MLB, respectively.

The Padres aim to extend their perfect record on Tuesday when Michael King takes the mound. King struggled in his season debut against the Braves, lasting just 2.2 innings after giving up three earned runs on four hits with four walks. Despite his rough outing, San Diego still secured a 7-4 win.
