Since the Ohio State Buckeyes won the National Championship, speculation has swirled about freshman standout Jeremiah Smith potentially leaving Columbus and entering the transfer portal, fueled by reports of a $4.5 million offer.

Many assumed Miami and head coach Mario Cristobal were making a strong push for Smith, especially after securing Georgia transfer quarterback Carson Beck.

However, Smith quickly shut down any talk of his departure. Over the weekend, he reaffirmed his commitment to Ohio State, responding to an Instagram comment about a lucrative offer with a firm denial.

Jeremiah Smith has no plans to leave Ohio State this offseason

Smith’s response, “I’m good I promise you,” was a quick and respectful way of reaffirming his commitment to the Buckeyes. After an incredible freshman season, capped off by winning the national championship, he has no plans to leave Columbus.

During the College Football Playoff, Smith was a standout performer, delivering big moments against Tennessee, Oregon, and Notre Dame in the title game. He has already established himself as one of the nation’s top wide receivers and is poised to continue dominating the Big Ten in 2025.

If he were eligible for the NFL Draft this year, Smith would undoubtedly be a Top 5 pick. However, at just 19 years old, he’ll have to wait a little longer before making the jump to the pros. While Miami fans may have hoped to see him catching passes from Beck next season, that dream won’t be coming true.
