That didn’t take long. Just days after his release from the Cincinnati Bengals, veteran guard Alex Cappa has landed with a new NFL team.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Las Vegas Raiders are signing Cappa to a two-year, $11.2 million contract, which includes $5.5 million fully guaranteed at signing.

It’s a strong deal for Cappa, who now heads to Las Vegas after three seasons in Cincinnati. The Raiders will be the third team he has played for in his NFL career.

Before joining Cincinnati, Cappa spent four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, playing a key role in their Super Bowl LV victory in 2021.

Throughout his career, he has been a dependable presence on the offensive line, starting 96 of the 102 regular season games he has played.

Now with the Raiders, Cappa aims to help the team return to the postseason for the first time since 2021 while strengthening an offensive line that struggled last season.

In 2024, Las Vegas allowed 50 sacks, the seventh-most in the league, trailing only the Bears, Browns, Texans, Titans, and Patriots.

Releasing Cappa provided the Bengals with about $8 million in salary cap relief. Cincinnati also parted ways with veteran defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins, saving $9.6 million, while the unexpected retirement of Sam Hubbard freed up an additional $9.5 million.

Meanwhile, the Raiders are focused on bolstering both sides of the line. Shortly after signing Cappa, they made another major move by agreeing to a record-setting extension with star defensive end Maxx Crosby.
