The Roki Sasaki sweepstakes have begun, and the talented right-hander is set to start meeting with teams next week. The Mets are among the many teams vying for Sasaki’s services.
Mets president of baseball operations, David Stearns, shared with reporters that the team will give their “best shot” at securing the sought-after Japanese pitcher.

Despite the significant Juan Soto trade, it’s no surprise the Mets are pursuing Sasaki. While money isn’t an issue for Mets owner Steve Cohen, signing Sasaki—who is a potential top-tier pitcher subject to international bonus pool money restrictions—could allow the team to allocate funds to other areas of the roster.
If the Mets were to land Sasaki, he would join a rotation that includes Kodai Senga, Frankie Montas, David Peterson, Clay Holmes, and Paul Blackburn.
