Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Jose D. Hernandez has been handed a one-year suspension after testing positive for boldenone and nandrolone under baseball’s minor league drug policy, according to the Associated Press.
The 21-year-old will miss the 2025 Arizona Complex League season due to this violation.
Hernandez joined the Dodgers as a minor league free agent in July 2019. During the 2024 season in the Arizona Complex League, he posted a .302/.394/.512 batting line with four home runs, 21 RBIs, and an OPS of .906 in 26 games. He also contributed six doubles, eight walks, and five stolen bases, while striking out 21 times.
In 135 career minor league games since 2021, Hernandez has a .268/.390/.434 line with 11 home runs and 77 RBIs. Now, he will be ineligible to play until the 2025 season.
Hernandez originally signed with the Dodgers out of Venezuela in 2019, receiving a $10,000 signing bonus.
