Kentucky is now reportedly eyeing Chad Baker-Mazara, a 6’7″ forward transferring from Auburn, as Coach Mark Pope looks to add experience and versatility to the Wildcats’ lineup. Known for his gritty play on both ends of the floor, Baker-Mazara offers size, shot-making, and toughness — qualities that could prove valuable in SEC play.

Last season, he posted solid numbers for the Tigers, averaging 10.0 points, 3.7 boards, and 2.2 assists, while standing out during Auburn’s postseason run. His clutch performances in the SEC Tournament earned him All-Tournament honors and highlighted his ability to rise in pressure moments.

While opinions among fans vary, there’s no question Baker-Mazara brings something unique. He’s a high-motor, high-IQ player with a competitive edge — just the type of guy Pope has said he wants in his system.

“We’re looking for battle-tested guys who compete and play with fire,” Pope recently said. “That’s the foundation we’re building on.”

Baker-Mazara’s journey has taken him from the Dominican Republic to programs like San Diego State, Duquesne, and Northwest Florida State before landing at Auburn. Each stop helped shape his game, and now, with one more move likely ahead, he’s attracting serious interest once again.

Should talks progress, the Wildcats might be in position to land a seasoned, ready-to-go contributor with SEC experience — someone who fits the mold of a Pope-era Kentucky team.
