Georgia’s streak of securing top-tier defensive backs seems unstoppable, now extending into the 2026 recruiting class. On Monday, 4-star IMG Academy (Fla.) recruit Dominick Kelly made waves by announcing his commitment switch from Southern Cal to Georgia. Kelly had been pledged to USC since March, but a strong relationship with Georgia’s Donte Williams had been eroding USC’s lead for months.
The turning point came over the weekend when Kelly informed USC coaches of his decision to decommit and join Georgia. This was confirmed by Dawgs247.
Kelly’s commitment highlights a successful summer for Georgia defensive backs coaches Donte Williams and Travaris Robinson, who have secured multiple 4-star prospects including Todd Robinson, Shamari Earls, Jaylan Morgan, Rashad Johnson, Jontavius Wyman, and now Kelly. This validates Kirby Smart’s decision to pair this dynamic recruiting duo.
Kelly is the second 2026 defensive back to commit to Georgia in the past week, following Jontavius Wyman’s commitment on Saturday. They join quarterback Jared Curtis as the early commits for Georgia’s 2026 class. With Kelly’s addition, Georgia’s recruiting class jumps into the top 5, surpassing Oklahoma, Syracuse, Miami, LSU, and Oregon with a class score of 75.13.
Kelly, who received his Georgia offer in January, maintained consistent communication with Williams and Robinson. Despite his USC commitment, he attracted significant interest from Notre Dame, Florida State, and Tennessee throughout the year.
Ranked as a 4-star prospect, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound cornerback from IMG Academy (formerly of Robinson, Fla.) is the nation’s No. 21 cornerback, No. 40 prospect in Florida, and No. 246 overall recruit according to the 247Sports rankings.
