Breaking News: Dallas Cowboys steal another star player from Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals’ defensive line has been a weak spot this season, struggling both to stop the run and to apply pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Injuries have played a significant role, with key players like B.J. Hill and Sheldon Rankins missing time due to various health issues.

Cam Sample is sidelined for the year with a torn Achilles, while Myles Murphy remains on injured reserve without having played in 2024. As a result, the Bengals clearly need more depth on the defensive line, which makes the following news both surprising and likely frustrating for their fans.

Cowboys sign K.J. Henry from Bengals practice squad

As reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Dallas Cowboys are signing defensive end K.J. Henry from the Bengals’ practice squad. Henry, now in his second year, played in 10 games for the Commanders last season, where he totaled 19 tackles, four tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, two passes defended, and 1.5 sacks.

Released by Washington in late August, Henry was quickly picked up by Cincinnati. This season, he logged 18 snaps for the Bengals, seven of which were on special teams. With the Cowboys dealing with injuries along the defensive line, Henry is expected to see a larger role.

Though not yet a standout, Henry is a young edge rusher with potential. Given Cincinnati’s struggles and injuries on their defensive line, he seemed like a player they would want to keep, and he may now get more opportunities in Dallas.

Henry appears happy about the move, posting cowboy hat-wearing smiley face emojis on social media after the announcement. Just days prior, he had expressed his eagerness to get on the field, and it looks like he’ll get his chance—with Dallas instead of Cincinnati.
