The most recent updates regarding the Dallas Cowboys.

Jourdan Lewis’ incredible journey often goes untold. His respect is earned not just from his competitive drive or his status as the longest-tenured Dallas defensive player, aside from DeMarcus Lawrence, but also from overcoming a career-threatening injury in 2022.

That injury led him into a period of depression, where he faced his darkest challenges. With support from his coaches and teammates, he fought through it. When Lewis returned in 2023, it was a slow start, which was understandable given the severity of his injury. During a 2022 game against the Detroit Lions, Lewis intercepted a Jared Goff pass, but as he landed and tried to push off, his foot literally shattered.

Lewis revealed that he fractured almost every bone in his foot and severely damaged all of its ligaments and tendons, with some torn completely. “I didn’t think I’d ever play again,” he recently shared. “I think about that every day.”

He had to undergo extensive surgery that included a metal plate, brace, and five screws, reshaping his foot. Lewis had to relearn basic movements like walking, running, jumping, and cutting before he could even begin football-related activities again, focusing first on returning to normal life.

Despite these challenges, within a matter of months, Lewis not only made a full recovery but has arguably returned to play at his best level yet.
