Auburn Tigers secures another top recruit, demonstrating that his on-court success is carrying over to the recruiting trail.
The Auburn Tigers added their second commitment to the 2025 recruiting class on Tuesday afternoon, with four-star combo guard Kaden Magwood joining fellow four-star combo guard Simon Walker as part of Coach Bruce Pearl’s latest group.
Magwood, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound guard from Charlotte, North Carolina, announced his decision to join Auburn on Tuesday. As ranked by 247Sports, Magwood is the No. 44 player in the nation, the No. 7 combo guard, and the top player from North Carolina in this recruiting cycle. While 247Sports ranks him the highest among the major recruiting services, On3 rates him as a three-star prospect and the No. 116 player nationally, representing the lowest ranking among services.

Magwood chose Auburn over other programs, including Alabama, Illinois, Louisville, N.C. State, Ole Miss, and Villanova, with N.C. State and Ole Miss among his final three choices. He visited Auburn officially on September 28 and received his offer two days later, marking his first visit and meeting with Pearl. Evidently, the visit left a strong impression, as Magwood committed less than two months afterward.
Magwood’s choice was influenced by Auburn’s utilization of guards, which aligns with his style. “I’m a scoring guard,” Magwood shared with AuburnSports, referencing current guards like Tahaad Pettiford and Denver Jones, who excel at scoring and passing. “I really could see myself in that position.”
Scouts are confident in Magwood’s potential, seeing him as one of the top guards in his class. 247Sports’ director of scouting, Adam Finkelstein, praised Magwood’s skills: “He’s a tough shot-maker, capable of creating his own shot and posted efficient shooting splits of 53/52/80 while averaging nearly 23 points per game during the recent 3SSB season.”
With Magwood’s commitment, Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class has climbed from No. 77 to No. 34 nationally according to 247Sports.
