What a surprise development for Ohio State fans. While Ryan Day and his staff have largely shifted focus to the 2026 recruiting class, they clearly haven’t taken their eyes off rising talent in 2027 — and one name making waves is Elijah Haven.

The highly regarded quarterback, considered one of the top players in the 2027 cycle, is set to make an unofficial visit to Ohio State on Thursday, according to On3. This is big news for the program and could be a key step in building momentum with Haven.

Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 215 pounds, the Baton Rouge native has already secured 13 offers, with that number expected to grow quickly. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Haven is a five-star recruit, the No. 1 QB nationally, the No. 4 player in Louisiana, and ranked No. 22 overall in the 2027 class. His offer sheet already features powerhouses like Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, Florida, LSU, Miami, and Michigan.

While Ohio State hasn’t formally offered Haven yet, that could change following his visit. The Buckeyes already have a commitment from four-star California QB Brady Edmunds for the 2027 class, and most assumed he would be the lone quarterback taken. But this renewed interest in Haven has sparked speculation.

Is Ryan Day considering taking two quarterbacks in the cycle? It’s starting to look that way. Thursday’s visit may determine just how serious Ohio State is about pursuing Haven — and it wouldn’t be surprising if he leaves Columbus with an offer in hand.
