The Miami Dolphins are facing a pivotal stretch in the 2024 season, now at a 2-6 record, where every remaining game is a must-win with no room for mistakes.

In Week 10, they’re set to make a challenging trip across the country to play the Los Angeles Rams on “Monday Night Football.”

In preparation for this game, Miami made a notable roster change that could indicate further shifts ahead.

“We have waived DT Brandon Pili,” the team announced on X.

Pili, a backup defensive tackle who appeared in all eight games this season, was likely released to create roster space, likely for wide receiver River Cracraft, expected to return from injured reserve.

Dolphins' Brandon Pili has right mindset for opportunity he faces

Pili’s journey with the Dolphins has been inspiring. At 25, he became the first Alaska native in nearly a decade to make an active roster, earning his spot with Miami as an undrafted rookie and appearing in four games last year before moving to the practice squad.

The Dolphins may be aiming to bring him back to the practice squad if he clears waivers. Pili’s college career at USC (2017-22) highlighted his skills over 52 games, where he logged 74 total tackles (29 solo), 3.5 sacks, four pass breakups, and a forced fumble.
