Former four-star safety Joseph Jefferson II is on his way to the University of Louisville.
Jefferson, originally a highly rated recruit from Pike High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, was initially brought to Purdue by current Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm. After spending three seasons with the Boilermakers, Jefferson transferred to Western Michigan last December.
During his time at Purdue, Jefferson redshirted in 2022 and went on to appear in 23 games over the following two seasons. Last year, he recorded 31 tackles, including two tackles for loss, and earned a starting role after an injury opened up a spot. He notably racked up 10 tackles in a loss to Oregon State and followed that with nine tackles against Nebraska the next week.

The 6-foot, 190-pound safety took part in spring practices at Western Michigan before re-entering the transfer portal.
Recognized for his physical style of play, Jefferson was ranked a four-star recruit and the No. 10 player in Indiana his senior year by 247Sports. He was also rated the No. 36 safety nationally and held over a dozen scholarship offers, including ones from Utah, Ball State, and Western Kentucky.
Jefferson comes from a football family — his father, Joseph Jefferson, starred at Western Kentucky and was a third-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts in the 2002 NFL Draft, playing four seasons in the league.
