Brusdar Graterol is among the most intriguing pitchers in baseball. The Los Angeles Dodgers’ standout reliever effortlessly produces near triple-digit velocity with remarkably short arm action. However, this unique pitching style can make him prone to shoulder injuries and other physical issues.
Brusdar Graterol will be out with a shoulder injury
According to B/R Walk-Off, Dodgers right-hander Brusdar Graterol will miss at least the first half of the 2025 season due to surgery on his pitching shoulder.

“Brusdar Graterol had right shoulder labrum surgery and is expected to return for the second half of the 2025 season,” they shared on X.

The procedure, performed by renowned surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache, was reportedly successful.
The Dodgers will need to get creative to replace Graterol
Graterol’s exact return date remains uncertain and will depend on his recovery progress, though it’s assumed he won’t be back until after the All-Star break.
He made his 2024 season debut with the Dodgers in August after missing several months due to shoulder inflammation. Unfortunately, a serious hamstring strain limited him to just seven regular-season appearances, during which he posted a 2.46 ERA and a 0.68 WHIP.
In the postseason, Graterol allowed one earned run over 2.1 innings, giving up two hits and four walks while striking out one in the World Series.
When healthy, Graterol is among the Dodgers’ top right-handed arms and one of the best in the National League. His absence through the first half of the 2025 season will be significant. However, as is typical for the Dodgers, the focus is on having him fully recovered and ready for the playoffs.
Known for their exceptional roster management and player development, the Dodgers are well-equipped to find solutions during the regular season. Still, Graterol’s elite potential will be crucial in October.
