The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are adding quarterbacks Jake Dolegala and Bryan Scott to their roster, according to a source confirmed by 3DownNation, with TSN’s Dave Naylor first reporting the news.
Dolegala was cut by the B.C. Lions in mid-August after they signed Nathan Rourke. The 6-foot-7, 242-pound quarterback started one game this year, completing 14-of-23 passes for 146 yards in a 33-16 defeat to the Edmonton Elks.
The Hamburg, N.Y. native also started nine games for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2023, his second CFL season, completing 64.8 percent of his passes for 2,641 yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He went 2-7 as a starter following Trevor Harris’ season-ending leg injury.
Scott, meanwhile, was released by the Toronto Argonauts in mid-August after Chad Kelly’s reinstatement. Scott played nine games as a backup, completing all five of his pass attempts for 79 yards and a touchdown in a Week 4 loss to Montreal.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound quarterback had a stellar college career at Occidental College, where he threw for 9,073 yards, 77 touchdowns, and 22 interceptions, while also rushing for 402 yards and 13 touchdowns in 33 games. He was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Player of the Year as a senior.
The Blue Bombers recently lost backup quarterback Chris Streveler to a long-term injury after he tore three ligaments in his left knee. Streveler completed 31-of-52 passes for 343 yards, one touchdown, and one interception this season, and added 272 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.
Currently 7-6, Winnipeg is on a bye week and will face the Edmonton Elks (5-8) on Saturday, Sept. 21, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
