The top-ranked recruit in the 2026 class, offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell, will visit the Georgia Bulldogs shortly before making his college decision.

According to On3’s Steven Wiltfong, Cantwell has moved his commitment announcement to May 13 and is scheduled to take an unofficial visit to Georgia on May 10. Because of the timing, Wiltfong believes Georgia has emerged as the frontrunner to land the five-star lineman.

“This is major news for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs as they try to secure one of their top targets,” Wiltfong wrote. “Right now, I’d say Georgia is trending in the right direction to land this elite lineman.”

Wiltfong added that no offensive line coach is recruiting Cantwell more aggressively than Georgia’s Stacy Searels. Cantwell recently praised his connection with Searels, saying, “We’ve had a strong relationship since I got the offer, and I’ve talked with him a lot. From what I’ve seen, I feel like I have a solid understanding of their o-line setup.”

Georgia is battling with Oregon, Miami, and Ohio State for Cantwell’s commitment. He also previously considered Michigan and Missouri.

Cantwell, who hails from Nixa, Missouri, is ranked No. 1 overall in the 2026 class by 247Sports Composite.
