The Dawgs lost a top prospect from their 2025 recruiting class on Sunday.
Georgia’s 2025 recruiting class is now down to 22 commitments following the de-commitment of four-star defensive lineman Christian Garrett from Prince Avenue Christian in Bogart, Georgia. Garrett, who stands at 6-foot-3.5 and weighs 285 pounds, announced his decision on Sunday.

He had originally committed to Georgia on June 9, choosing the Bulldogs over Clemson, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, and 21 other offers. Garrett’s departure leaves Georgia with only two defensive line commitments for the 2025 class: Stephon Shivers, a nose tackle from Humboldt, Tennessee, and JJ Hanne, a three-star recruit from Rancho Santa Margarita Catholic in California.
This loss has dropped Georgia’s recruiting class to No. 4 in the 247Sports Team Class Rankings. Garrett is currently ranked as the No. 189 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 23 defensive lineman, and the No. 29 overall recruit in Georgia according to 247Sports.
Recently, Garrett had provided an update on his status to Dawgs247’s Benjamin Wolk, stating, “I’m a Georgia boy that’s putting on for the G.” He expressed satisfaction with the program’s consistent support throughout the recruiting process and mentioned that his focus had shifted to the upcoming season.
Georgia remains in strong contention for two highly-rated in-state defensive linemen: Justus Terry from Manchester and Elijah Griffin from Savannah Christian. Garrett had mentioned his involvement in recruiting these players, emphasizing the importance of staying in-state to represent Georgia.
Garrett’s last visit to Georgia was for his official visit from June 7-9, during which he committed to head coach Kirby Smart and defensive line coach Tray Scott. Although he missed a team event due to a scheduling conflict, Garrett plans to attend several Georgia games this fall, with a likely appearance at the Georgia-Clemson game and the Bulldogs’ home opener.
