
The Milwaukee Brewers traded for Nick Mears from the Colorado Rockies on Saturday, sending fellow right-handers Bradley Blalock and Yujanyer Herrera in exchange. Mears, 27, has a record of 1-4 with a 5.56 ERA in 41 relief outings for Colorado this season.

In his five major league seasons, he has pitched in 93 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates (2020-22) and Rockies (2023-24), holding a 2-5 record with a 4.93 ERA. Blalock, 23, ranked as Milwaukee’s No. 17 prospect by MLB Pipeline, debuted in the majors on June 20 with a scoreless inning and had a 5-2 record with a 4.08 ERA in 16 starts at Double-A Biloxi this year.
Herrera, 20, has played in low Class-A Carolina and high Class-A Wisconsin this season, achieving a 9-1 record with a 2.91 ERA in 16 appearances (nine starts), but has not yet played in the majors.
