The Indianapolis Colts are probably not in a position to pursue a trade for Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons—especially since their primary issues aren’t on defense. If Parsons were an elite quarterback, the situation might be different.
That said, Parsons has reportedly asked to be traded. While the Cowboys aren’t obligated to grant that request, it may be worth exploring their options. Parsons could hit free agency next year or leave the following year if he’s franchise-tagged.

Unless Parsons and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones agree on a massive contract extension, his time in Dallas appears limited. With that in mind, it might make sense for the Cowboys to consider trading him now to get solid value in return.
Micah Parsons being traded from the Dallas Cowboys could be an issue for the Indianapolis Colts
Under normal circumstances, the Indianapolis Colts wouldn’t be too concerned about what the Dallas Cowboys do, since they’re in separate divisions and conferences. But if Micah Parsons is traded, it could have major implications for Indy — especially if he lands with a division rival.

The biggest threat? The Houston Texans potentially adding Parsons to an already strong edge-rushing group. Houston has won the AFC South two years in a row and enters 2025 as the favorite again. The Titans are rebuilding, the Colts have unresolved quarterback issues, and the Jaguars consistently underperform.

Even with their current struggles at quarterback, the Colts are likely to be in direct competition with Houston for division titles over the coming years. At just 26 years old, Parsons would almost certainly receive a long-term extension from any team that trades for him.
Houston, already a serious contender, could become a dominant force if they acquire Parsons. A pairing of Will Anderson Jr. and Parsons would arguably form the most intimidating pass-rushing duo in the NFL for the next several seasons.

The Texans also have the assets to make such a deal. In 2026, they own a first-rounder and two second-round picks — and could part with two of the three without hurting their future. While their 2026 draft capital is limited, they’re well-stocked for 2027.
With C.J. Stroud on a rookie contract, now is the perfect time for Houston to go all-in and add elite talent. If the Texans pull off a trade for Parsons, the Colts’ path to the top of the division would become far more difficult.
