The Los Angeles Dodgers kicked off Monday with a trade.
According to MLB insider Ari Alexander, the Dodgers have acquired right-handed pitcher Will Klein from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for left-handed pitcher Joe Jacques — a straight pitcher-for-pitcher deal.
Klein, who was designated for assignment by Seattle on May 31, has yet to pitch in the majors this season. He began the year with Triple-A Tacoma, posting a 7.17 ERA with 32 strikeouts and three saves over 22 outings. Seattle acquired him last offseason in a trade involving international bonus pool money.

In 2024, Klein split time between the Kansas City Royals and Oakland Athletics. With the Royals, he posted a 6.35 ERA and struck out six batters in 5.2 innings. His time with the A’s was rougher — a 27.00 ERA and just one strikeout in 1.2 innings.

Despite those struggles, the Dodgers, dealing with a depleted bullpen due to injuries (15 pitchers on the IL), appear willing to take a chance on Klein as a potential reclamation project.
Jacques, meanwhile, never pitched in the majors for L.A. He joined the club on a minor league deal in November 2024. Over his career, the left-hander has a 5.46 ERA, 22 strikeouts, and a 1.652 WHIP in 29.2 big league innings.
