The Boston Red Sox have a future that’s easy to get excited about — and it goes beyond just what’s happening at Fenway Park right now.
To kick off the 2025 season, Boston gave Kristian Campbell a spot on the major league roster, a move that energized the fanbase and marked the beginning of a youth movement. Campbell has performed well so far, but he’s only the beginning.
Two more top prospects, Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer, are waiting their turn — and based on the buzz inside the organization, it won’t be long.

Roman Anthony, currently ranked as the top prospect in all of baseball, has been dominating Triple-A pitching early this season.
Even after a brief scare Friday when he fouled a ball off his foot, Anthony’s performance has only strengthened the Red Sox’s belief in his superstar potential. Though he hasn’t made his debut yet, he’s already building a strong following within Fenway.
Red Sox president and CEO Sam Kennedy appeared on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” Friday and couldn’t hide his excitement about Anthony — or how close he might be to the big leagues.
“We keep walking by (Craig Breslow’s) office and saying, ‘Come on, man. What are we waiting for? Let’s go!’” Kennedy joked. “It’s so thrilling to have players banging on the door, trying to force their way onto the major league roster.”

Kennedy also explained the team’s cautious approach: “Whether it’s him or someone else, when you have players nearing the end of their development cycle, you want to be sure they’re completely ready.
When they come up, you want them to stay. And when the players already in the big leagues are performing, you sometimes just have to be patient.”
He added, “There’s no magic formula. There’s that old baseball saying, ‘These things usually take care of themselves.’ I don’t love saying that because it often means an injury or someone struggles. But it’s been really encouraging, and I’m sure he’ll be up sooner rather than later — though you never really know.”
One thing is clear: it’s not just fans who are counting down the days until Roman Anthony’s debut. The front office is just as eager — and soon, New England could have a new Roman Empire on its hands.
