In a major boost for Tennessee basketball, standout forward Darlinstone Dubar from Hofstra has officially committed to the Volunteers for the 2024–25 season. His decision comes shortly after an official visit to Knoxville, confirming his intention to join Rick Barnes’ program.

The 6-foot-8, 211-pound Dubar brings significant experience and skill to Tennessee. In the 2023–24 season at Hofstra, he averaged 17.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, shooting an efficient 53.9% from the field and 39.9% from three-point range. His standout play earned him Second Team All-CAA honors and positions him as a valuable asset for the Volunteers in the upcoming season.

Head coach Rick Barnes expressed his excitement, saying, “Darlinstone is a fierce competitor and a versatile athlete capable of playing multiple roles. He brings grit and a strong work ethic that will complement the character of our current team.”

Dubar’s arrival comes at a pivotal moment for the Vols, who have experienced several roster changes due to the transfer portal. His presence is expected to help offset the loss of outgoing forwards and provide much-needed depth in the frontcourt.

Fans can expect to see Dubar wearing No. 8—a tribute to his basketball idol, Kobe Bryant—as he channels the “Mamba Mentality” on the court. It will mark the first time a Tennessee men’s player has worn that number.

With this addition, Tennessee continues to build a formidable roster, setting its sights on another strong run in the highly competitive SEC.
