The Seattle Seahawks have been somewhat limited in their free agency moves for the offensive line, but they are expected to target multiple offensive linemen in next month’s NFL Draft.

One prospect to watch is UConn right tackle Chase Lundt, who is reportedly set to meet with the Seahawks for an official pre-draft visit, according to CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards.

Lundt, standing 6’8” and weighing 305 lbs, brings significant experience at right tackle, having played over 3,000 snaps. He earned First-team All-Independent honors in 2023 after being named Second-team in 2022. His athleticism has caught the attention of numerous draft analysts and scouts.

NFL Draft Buzz offers this assessment:

Lundt is a player with considerable developmental potential and is a strong fit for zone-heavy offensive schemes that can leverage his movement skills while addressing his current power limitations. His combination of size, athleticism, and technique offers significant upside, particularly if he can add mass without losing mobility.

Teams that focus on outside zone concepts will be interested in Lundt’s ability to reach the edge and execute combination blocks with precision. Though he will need time in an NFL strength program to effectively handle power rushers, his pass protection fundamentals and durability make him a promising developmental prospect. As teams dive deeper into his game tape, Lundt could gain traction through the pre-draft process.

In the right system, Lundt has the potential to be a swing tackle with starting upside by his second year, especially if he maintains his impressive movement skills while adding 10-15 pounds of functional mass. His ceiling will depend on how well he can anchor against NFL power, but his reliability as a backup makes him a worthy investment in the later rounds of Day 3.

Lundt did not participate in the Senior Bowl or NFL Scouting Combine drills due to an injury sustained in UConn’s bowl game (though he did complete 20 reps on the bench press).

It’s worth noting that Lundt played alongside current Seahawks guard Christian Haynes for three seasons, forming the right side of UConn’s offensive line before Haynes was drafted by Seattle in the third round last year.

With the Seahawks expected to run outside zone concepts under offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and offensive line coach John Benton, Lundt could quickly land on their radar.

There are some concerns about how Lundt will perform against more powerful athletes in the NFL, and it’s possible he could transition to guard at the pro level. Lance Zierlein’s analysis suggests:

Lundt’s experience as a collegiate right tackle makes him a candidate for both tackle and guard roles due to his lack of ideal length. He’s strong in his core and hands, effectively balancing through contact and using solid hand placement for run blocking.

His technique and flexibility make him viable for both hat-on-hat and move blocking in the run game, but he may need to add more bulk. Lundt’s physical profile may struggle against the speed, power, and counters of NFL pass rushers, projecting him as an average swing tackle, though a move to guard could offer a clearer path to becoming a reliable starter.

Currently, Lundt is projected as an early Day 3 pick, with potential to go as high as the third round.
