The Cincinnati Bengals are looking to bolster their offensive line to better protect quarterback Joe Burrow this offseason, potentially by adding a veteran guard in free agency.

According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, free agent offensive lineman Lucas Patrick is set to visit the Bengals on Friday. Patrick spent last season with the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South, signing a one-year deal before an injury ended his season after 10 starts.

Hard work and humility spurred Lucas Patrick's rise

The 31-year-old previously played in the NFC North, appearing in 54 games for the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers over his first seven NFL seasons. An undrafted free agent out of Duke in 2016, Patrick signed with Green Bay and has since played in 107 career games, making 64 starts and recovering five fumbles.

In 2023, Patrick earned a 64.6 overall grade from Pro Football Focus with the Saints. Notably, he didn’t allow a sack over 893 pass-blocking snaps and surrendered just three quarterback hits.

Cincinnati’s interest in Patrick comes after the team released guard Alex Cappa earlier this offseason.
