On Saturday, Tennessee football secured another top-100 recruit for its 2025 class, marking the third consecutive Saturday with a new commitment. While it’s not yet football season, the Vols are maximizing their summer weekends.

Four-star safety Lagonza Hayward announced his commitment to Tennessee on X, stating he’s “110% committed” to the Vols, choosing them over SEC rivals Georgia and Florida. At six-foot-one and 205 pounds, Hayward is a consensus four-star recruit and a top-ten safety in the 2025 class. Following his commitment, he confidently predicted a top-five recruiting class for Tennessee, stating, “We will have a top-five recruiting class. We are going to get a couple of flips, sign some top targets, and we are all working on David Sanders Jr. This class will be one of the best in the nation.”

Hayward, from Lyons, Georgia, emphasized that he’s not the last elite player to commit to the Vols.
Since early June, Tennessee has added several players to its roster, now holding the No. 11 recruiting class nationally and the No. 5 class in the SEC, according to On3 Recruiting.
The weekend isn’t over for Tennessee, with four-star commits George MacIntyre and Ethan Utley, and uncommitted five-star offensive tackle David Sanders Jr., set to visit. Sanders, who is deciding between Tennessee, Ohio State, Georgia, and Nebraska, will announce his commitment on August 17. If Tennessee’s recruiting momentum continues, Sanders may join the Vols a few weeks later.
