The San Francisco Giants are in a solid position as they enter their first full-squad workout of spring training, with several new faces and high expectations for 2025.

Much of the attention will be on their marquee offseason additions—shortstop Willy Adames and veteran starter Justin Verlander. Both players bring significant expectations as the Giants enter a new era under newly appointed president of baseball operations, Buster Posey.

Additionally, top prospect Bryce Eldridge, a promising first baseman, is in camp as a non-roster invitee, generating excitement among fans eager to see him in action.

While there hasn’t been much activity leading up to Monday’s full-team workout, manager Bob Melvin received a major positive update: aside from minor back tightness for second baseman Tyler Fitzgerald and backup catcher Tom Murphy, the entire roster is healthy.

That’s crucial for a Giants squad welcoming back several key players from significant injuries suffered in 2024.

  • Jung Hoo Lee, the former KBO star, played just 37 games last season before a season-ending shoulder injury. If he can regain his previous form, he and Adames could form an electric duo atop the lineup.
  • Lou Trivino, who hasn’t pitched in an MLB game since 2022, is fully healthy and working at the same pace as the other relievers as he pushes for a roster spot.
  • Keaton Winn, coming off ulnar nerve transposition surgery in July, has already touched 95.5 mph on the radar gun, per The Athletic’s Andrew Baggarly.
  • Wilmer Flores, who underwent a Tenex procedure on his knee, completed rehab before 2025 began and is confident in a bounce-back season.
  • Kyle Harrison and Jordan Hicks, both projected starters, have made physical adjustments to improve durability and performance throughout the year.

With plenty of competition in the NL West, the Giants will need a few breaks to go their way. However, if their key players stay healthy and deliver, they could be right in the mix for a Wild Card spot.
