The race to sign Alex Bregman has narrowed to three or four teams, with the Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, and Toronto Blue Jays emerging as the top contenders. While each team offers unique appeal, Bregman can ultimately choose only one destination.

Deesha Thosar of FOX Sports recently shared her prediction for where the star infielder might land this offseason. Thosar forecasted a six-year, $165 million deal with the Red Sox, though she admitted she would hesitate to offer him more than five years.

“The Red Sox seem like the perfect fit for the two-time World Series champion,” Thosar wrote. “Bregman would likely need to switch to second base in Boston, but signing him could instantly elevate the Red Sox into AL East contention.

“I’d be cautious about giving Bregman more than five years as he approaches his age-31 season, but if Boston is desperate enough, a six-year, $165 million deal could work for both sides. It would also reunite Bregman with his former Houston manager, Alex Cora.”

The Red Sox have been linked to Bregman for some time, as the team is in the market for a right-handed infielder. Adding Houston’s star third baseman would be a dream scenario for Boston, especially at the proposed $165 million price tag.

Although Bregman is reportedly seeking a $200 million contract, a deal in the $165 million range might seem a bit low. The final number will likely land somewhere between these two figures.
