LATEST NEWS: Scott Boras Hints At Another Big Move Coming For Mets

Rumors of MLB super-agent Scott Boras’ decline last offseason were greatly exaggerated.

Recently, Boras facilitated the largest contract in professional sports history, securing a 15-year, $765 million deal for Juan Soto with the New York Mets.

Known for his sharp negotiation skills and flair for hyping up his clients, Boras hinted at more big moves for the Mets, even after the Soto signing.

In a press conference shared by SNY Mets on X, Boras revealed that the Mets have made it clear to him and his agency that their pursuit of top talent isn’t limited to just one major acquisition, saying, “They’re going to be a very steady and heavy commitment to acquiring the best talent.”

With large contracts like those of Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer now off their books, the Mets have plenty of financial flexibility to continue spending.

Mets interested in re-signing Pete Alonso

The key question remains the future of Pete Alonso, who is still a free agent. While it’s unclear if the Mets are prioritizing re-signing their first baseman, Boras’ comments have fans speculating he could be referring to Alonso.

Additionally, the Mets may still target starting pitching, and with owner Steve Cohen’s willingness to invest heavily in building a championship-caliber team, no deal they make should come as a surprise.
