Breaking News: Lions Confirmed Another Good News

Dan Campbell, the head coach of the Lions, provided an encouraging update.

Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta was among those injured in last Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. He left late in the first half with a sprained right ankle and, after attempting to continue playing, had to leave the game for good.

Initial reports indicated that LaPorta avoided a more severe high ankle sprain, a positive sign for his recovery timeline. However, his status for Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks remained uncertain, despite having an extra day of rest before the game.

On Thursday, LaPorta was limited to side drills and was officially marked as not participating in practice. But by Friday, he was a full participant, signaling optimism for his availability on Monday night. His participation was almost confirmed, pending the final injury report on Saturday.

Sam LaPorta expected to play Monday night vs. Seahawks

Head coach Dan Campbell addressed the media on Saturday morning, and when Sam LaPorta’s name came up, he gave a brief but clear update on the tight end’s availability for Monday night.

“He looked really good yesterday, which was great to see,” Campbell said. “He’s recovered quickly and healed up well. So yes, he’s ready.”

LaPorta has had a slow start to the season with just eight catches for 94 yards over three games. However, it’s reasonable to expect his breakout is on the horizon, and he could play a key role for the Lions against Seattle’s top-ranked pass defense.

Through the first three weeks of the season, the Seahawks have allowed an average of 5.7 receptions and 57.3 yards per game to tight ends, ranking among the bottom-10 in the league. While a large portion of that production came from Patriots’ tight end Hunter Henry in Week 2 (eight catches for 109 yards), LaPorta could also exploit this favorable matchup.
