The Seattle Seahawks’ injury report on Thursday revealed several key defensive players who were absent from practice.

Analyst Joel Klatt discusses why Seahawks’ coach Mike Macdonald is more than just a defensive expert.

Defensive end Leonard Williams (ribs), defensive tackle Byron Murphy II (hamstring), outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (knee), inside linebacker Jerome Baker (hamstring), and outside linebacker Boye Mafe (knee) were all listed as non-participants. On offense, right guard Anthony Bradford (knee) also didn’t practice.

Running back Kenneth Walker III (oblique) was one of six limited participants, along with tight ends Noah Fant (toe) and Pharaoh Brown (foot), left guard Laken Tomlinson (ankle), linebacker Derick Hall (hip), and nose tackle Johnathan Hankins (calf).

This was the first of three practice updates ahead of Seattle’s Monday Night Football matchup against the Detroit Lions.

Williams and Murphy were both injured during Seattle’s Week 3 victory over the Miami Dolphins, with Williams suffering a rib injury in the first defensive series and Murphy hurting his hamstring in the second quarter. Both were ruled out by halftime.

Nwosu has been out since spraining his MCL during the preseason finale on August 24, but head coach Mike Macdonald said he expects him to practice this week. Baker also missed last week’s game due to a hamstring injury sustained in Week 2 against the New England Patriots.
