It was the Carrollton (Ga.) standout’s first time back on campus since a June visit and his fourth overall this year. Ranked as the No. 9 cornerback, Barney initially visited under the new coaching staff in March, which is when he received his offer. He returned later that month, attended a spring practice, and made another visit to The Capstone in mid-June. Barney committed in mid-May and soon shared his decision with Bama247.

“It was about the relationships,” he said. “The relationships with the coaches, the program’s culture, and everything they’ve built. It’s about who they’ve developed before and who they’re developing now. It’s really exciting. Everyone wants to live this dream. They are continuing the legacy that Nick Saban started, and that’s what they’re offering me.”

This latest visit marked Barney’s first real game-day experience, and the “crazy atmosphere” stood out to him. He was also impressed by seeing 19 freshmen get significant playing time, among other highlights.
