Giants to reunite with veteran free-agent to patch CB2 hole

The New York Giants have had a successful offseason, but with training camp approaching, they might look to address one remaining gap in their roster. Despite their need for a new, experienced starter to pair with Deonte Banks, the Giants haven’t done much to address their CB2 weakness. They might consider entering free agency to bring in a familiar face to strengthen their defense and backfield.

Could the Giants reunite with Adoree’ Jackson this summer?

Familiarity can be crucial. Veteran cornerback Adoree’ Jackson has plenty of it with the Giants, having spent the last three seasons with the team since signing in the 2021 offseason. Over that time, he played in 37 games, starting 36 of them, and recorded 176 combined tackles, two interceptions, and 23 pass defenses.

Jackson faced challenges during the 2023 season as he juggled playing both boundary and nickel cornerback positions. With his contract expiring this offseason, the Giants opted not to extend him. Nevertheless, Jackson expressed interest in returning under the right circumstances.

Now well into the offseason, Jackson remains unsigned, and the Giants have yet to secure an upgrade at cornerback. Third-year player Cor’Dale Flott is expected to start, but he lacks substantial experience on the boundary. While Jackson may not be a significant upgrade, he offers reliability and consistency, qualities the Giants are familiar with. Jackson demonstrated his remaining skills with a pick-six against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 15 last season, showcasing his veteran capability.

If the Giants seek to add experience to their secondary, reuniting with Jackson on an affordable one-year deal could provide valuable continuity.
