BREAKING: Angels to reset their roster trade outfielder in latest move

The Los Angeles Angels had a disappointing 2025 season, finishing last in the AL West with a 72–90 record. As they head into the offseason, the team is expected to make several roster moves in an effort to reset.

While many might assume that Mike Trout would be the focus of trade discussions, Jim Bowden of The Athletic suggests that Jo Adell could instead be the player on the move.

“Adell broke out this season, launching a career-high 37 home runs and posting a .485 slugging percentage,” Bowden wrote. “He ranked in the 76th percentile in batting run value, 90th in xwOBA, 96th in both xSLG and Barrel%, and 99th in bat speed.

However, he remains a below-average defender with a weak arm, making him better suited for left field than center.”

Bowden added that the Angels only control Adell for two more years, making now an ideal time to explore trade options as they look to rebuild their rotation and acquire more long-term, controllable talent.

Adell’s value is at its highest point since he was drafted in the first round in 2017, and teams like the Reds and Pirates could be interested.

Given that, moving Adell while his stock is high could bring the Angels much-needed assets—but, as always, it depends on finding the right trade partner.

Meanwhile, the Angels recently made a notable off-field move by hiring Kurt Suzuki as their new manager. Suzuki, a 16-year MLB veteran and former special assistant to GM Perry Minasian, will be stepping into the role for the first time.

While many around baseball respect Suzuki, some have raised concerns about whether anyone can truly thrive managing in Anaheim. MLB insider Ken Rosenthal commented on Foul Territory:

“Kurt Suzuki is one of the great people in baseball — upbeat, experienced, and a World Series champion from his time with Washington in 2019. I believe he has what it takes to be a successful manager. But I’m not sure anyone can succeed with the Angels right now.”
